1000 SIR FRANCIS DRAKE, ROOM #18
HCA-Marin has been active
for the last eleven years. Our regular meetings are
the second Wednesday of the month at 7:30 pm at the
Social Justice Center of Marin. This is the Isabel
Cook Center, just west of the Red Hill shopping center.
Both dues-paying members and non-members are welcome
to come, but check first just in case there’s
been a change.

Center: Isabel Cooke Center is just west of the
Red Hill Shopping Center on Sir Francis Drake
(i.e. slightly west of the Hub, the big intersection
where Sir Francis Drake turns left). Going West
(towards Fairfax) on Sir Francis Drake, you pass
a Union 76 gas station and a driveway and then
turn right immediately after the long, low Isabel
Cook building. Park in the lot. Walk around the
gymnasium, heading East, to reach the building
in the back. Room #18 is at the end of the hall

Last year, HCA-Marin
took a very active role in the OneCareNOW
campaign — the
365-day, 365-city campaign to bring public awareness
to single-payer health care and to make the public’s demand for it audible.
We have had splendid rallies/marches/fairs in Point Reyes Station, Fairfax,
Mill Valley, Novato, and San Rafael. Many other organizations have joined us — such
as CSEA, CNA, LWV, PNHP, DFA-Marin, and Grey Panthers. We also had slightly
more low key but also successful events in Tiburon, Sausalito, Larkspur, Corte
Madera, Inverness, Marin City, Woodacre, Ross, and San Anselmo. Each one was
unique and wonderful in its own way.
You can see pictures and read about all of these
by going to www.onecarenow.org. Click on “Find Your City Team” and entering the town’s zip
code.
We are now working on the second year of the 365
campaign, which concentrates on getting endorsements
from school boards and town and city councils. Please
volunteer to lobby in your town.
We are also starting a series of fundraising and
informational house parties. It is time for us to
pay more attention to raising the funds we urgently
need to carry out this campaign. We’ve done astonishing things as an almost-all
volunteer force, but a decent treasury could make a big difference to shorten
the time it takes to reach the finish line. So come to a house party; give a
house party. Again, contact Esther Wanning.
